For more than 20 years, Snow Camp have been turning young lives around with the power of snowsports – positively impacting the lives of more than 1000 young people annually through skiing, snowboarding, life-skills, qualifications and vocational opportunities.
Now, UNIQ Snowsports and UNIQ X are proudly supporting the charity to broaden horizons and break down barriers for many more thousands of underprivileged inner-city young people across the UK.
ABOUT SNOW CAMP
Snow Camp harness the power of snowsports to break down barriers, broaden horizons and address many of the social issues facing young people today; developing life-skills, qualifications and positive pathways for young people who need the positive opportunities the most.
Snow Camp deliver a fully accredited 3-stage programme journey delivered at indoor and outdoor ski slopes across the UK, culminating with a life-changing week in the mountains. At every stage of the Snow Camp journey, young people develop as individuals with increased confidence, self-esteem and aspirations to go onto many other positive destinations in life on completion of our journey, be that employment opportunities in the snowsports industry or beyond. Young people have access to fully accredited counselling and mental-health support, plus the opportunity to apply for Snow Camp’s award-winning apprenticeship programme as fully-fledged members of the Snow Camp team.
Now, Snow Camp proudly impact over 1000 young people annually, with many dedicated supporters & partners joining them for the journey.
SNOW CAMP STATISTICS 2022/23
Over 860 young people completed the core Snow Camp journey in 23/24 who would never have the opportunity to experience snowsports otherwise.
With the Snow Camp Apprentices and Youth Forum members included, Snow Camp impacted the lives of over 1000 young people in 23/24!
Nationally, 41% of young people who attended a Snow Camp programme were entitled to free school meals (national average 23.8%) – therefore live in a household with an income of less than £7,400.
Two-thirds of Snow Camp young people live in the 30% most deprived postcodes in the UK; ensuring the charity are targeting the right young people in need.
Approximately 40% of Snow Camp young people who joined a Snow Camp programme in 22/23 were from black and diverse ethnic communities/backgrounds.
95% of young people said they have a better understanding of self-reflection and well-being and have gained tools to look after their own mental health.
80% of young people said their confidence and self-belief has increased from being on the Snow Camp programmes.
100% of young people fell they are now confident in setting achievable goals for themselves since participating in Snow Camp programmes.
THE SNOW CAMP PROGRAMMES

Snow Camps 2-day beginner programme (typically delivered every Monday/Tuesday & Thursday/Friday) where young people experience their first ever turns on snow and complete this unforgettable first stage on the full programme journey.
Off the slope, young people reflect on their experiences with classroom-based life-skills sessions focusing on independence, responsibility, confidence and self-esteem. All young people gain an accredited Snow Life Award on completion of the Snow Camp First Tracks programme.

Their 5-week intermediate programme (delivered every Saturday & Sunday) where they start seeing the young people who are truly committed to the full Snow Camp journey; 6 weekends of more advanced snowsports training with bespoke life-skills sessions focusing on career opportunities within the snowsports industry.
Representatives from the industry (including our patrons, ambassadors, professionals, Snow Camp staff and former Snow Camp young people) deliver live talks on every session to inspire our young people and broaden their horizons to the opportunities that exist across the industry.
Young people also take part in mental health workshops and have access to 1-1 counselling sessions as needed. Young people also gain an ASDAN certificate in Sports and Fitness on completion of the Graduate programme.

The charities 10-week advanced programme (delivered every Saturday & Sunday) where those young people who have truly committed to their full programme journey now prepare themselves for their first life-changing week in the mountains and assessment to become a fully qualified trainee snowsport instructor to celebrate their achievements of the past 12 months.
The Excel Programme includes 10-weeks of advanced snowsports training and assessment by internationally recognised delivery partners, mental health workshops and 1-1 counselling sessions as required, plus 20-hours of shadowing during their week-long residential trip in April each year; the Snow Camp Excel Residential Trip.
Life-skills sessions throughout the Excel programme focus on each individual’s personal development, both with their practical abilities and their theory of teaching snowsports. For the 2022 programme, young people gain a Snowsport England/Scotland Instructor Level 1 qualification, their First Aid and Safeguarding certificates, plus, of course, their famous Snow Camp Blue Instructor Jackets to celebrate the completion of their full Snow Camp journey.

Every young person who completes the full Snow Camp journey can apply to become one of the charities 12 Snow Camp Apprentices (3 in each region) from their award-winning apprenticeship programme.
12 young people are provided with full-time employment for 1 year with Snow Camp which incorporates placements with snowsport-industry partners alongside an NVQ Standard in Community Activator Coach or an SVQ in Sports Coaching and BASI Level 1 Instructor qualification.
Snow Camp Apprentices support the delivery of every First Tracks, Graduate and Excel Programme across the UK alongside other youth volunteers and the Programme Managers. Each Apprentice also gains mental health training opportunities including a Level 1 Introduction to Counselling Skills, plus continued access to mental health workshops and 1-1 counselling sessions as required.
All included, Snow Camp are proud to provide this unique opportunity to the 12 apprentices year on year in collaboration with many fantastic partners from across the snowsports industry.

Every young person who completes the full Snow Camp journey are welcomed back year-on-year as part of the Snow Camp Youth Forum; their alumni of Snow Camp graduates who return regularly to inspire the next generation of young people joining the programmes, to support the delivery of the programmes as volunteers, or potentially progress on to further vocational opportunities within the snowsports industry with Snow Camp's full support.
Every £100 funds 1 new underprivileged young person onto Snow Camp’s two-day beginner First Tracks programme; their first ever experience on snow, away from the inner-city estates or the challenges they they may be facing on a daily basis.
Every £2,000 funds 1 young person through their advanced 10-week Excel programme peak season including their first ever life-changing week in the mountains and BASI training pathways.
Every £2,500 funds 1 young person through Snow Camp’s full 12-month programme journey, a life-changing opportunity with real & direct impact on the young person you’re supporting.
From £5,000 upwards, Snow Camp are proud to work collaboratively with all their partners to allocate their funds accordingly with mutually beneficial outcomes, ranging from X number of young people being supported through the Snow Camp programme journey, direct sponsorship of certain aspects of our work, to live event sponsorship or bespoke opportunities together.
From £10,000 upwards (building on the above), this may include direct support of the Snow Camp Apprenticeship programme – our 10 fantastic apprentices who inspire the next generation of Snow camp Young People whilst advancing their own career opportunities within or outside the snowsports industry – or direct impact on the young people through our core journey.
